As an immigrant in my mid-30s, I struggle to convince myself that relocating to Canada was a good idea. The job market is in shambles, and groceries are very expensive. It largely feels like it is only you and everyone on the internet who is going through in comparison with those physically around you. It seems like they have all figured it out, or you are just being lazy by not picking up a survival job.
My biggest challenge is actually buying a house. I realized that Canadians who have their heads screwed on right made the decision to buy their first home in their mid-20s so that by the time they are entering their early to mid-late 40s, they have already finished paying their mortgage. Most immigrants come in their 30s-40s. What is the plan? to work into your 70s, paying a mortgage, or are there other means that people are thinking about on how to complete their mortgage payment before they reach 70?
